Ok, so I am a college student, about 150 lbs and about 5'8, definitely want to lose a little bit of weight before summertime, and next semester I'm taking a swimming class, where I swim for 3 days a week for an hour each time. How much will this help, will it help me lose a little weight or help me tone up if I eat better also. If not, what could I do WITH that to help me tone up before spring break/summer? (I'm starting early, as you can see)

It will help your tone up, definitely. But here's the little catch about swimming. I was on a swim team, so i know this. When someone swims, the body brings the fat upward toward the surface of the skin, creating a layer of warm fat to protect against the water. That means swimmers can never be really thin unless they combine their workouts with a land sport. Try weightlifting and running in addition to swimming, like i did. Those really help.

I also practiced this sport for 3 years, and i can tell you that is healthy for us, is the best sport you can do for being a healthy person. But what about loose your weight. I think you should try to make some courses of fitnes in water(aquaaerobic), becayse swimming you will have muscles, but i dont think you wanted so much. Firstly you should lose some Ibs, and then make your body in a better form.

Od all sports, swimming is the most recommended one in the process of body shaping. It will certainly help you get rid of fat and form muscle instead. Go for it.
