yes it's wrong, and it's also wrong to eat and get food on your fingers and not wipe it off before you turn the page.

As long as it's your book (and not, say, your church's), there's nothing at all wrong with highlighting any book, whether it's the Bible or the Oxford Dictionary or your Astronomy text. Try to remember that if you worship God, then it is God you worship, not a book. The Bible is, among other things, a tool to get to know God better, to get to know yourself better, to understand the context under which events happened and cultural memes took root, to discover the difference between the letter of the law and the spirit...between legalism and love. It is something to study, not worship. So study it! And how can one study a text thoroughly without highlighting, underlining, tabbing pages, thumbing back and forth, circling and cross referencing...? Consider God your teacher and the Bible his schoolbook. If you were a teacher, would you rather see a student engaging with the material or one who revered the text to the degree that the binding still cracked every time he opened it?

Anybody who tries to tell you to treat your Bible like it's made of fragile snowflakes doesn't get the point of owning a Bible in the first place. God doesn't care if you mark up your Bible, trust me. He will be pleased that you dove in so diligently in your quest to learn and discover more about Him. Go on, mark it up in a rainbow of colors. And don't let anyone tell you differently.

In Revelation it says not to add or subtract from that book! You see in the time of the writing of the different books of the Bible (over 1000 yrs) each book of the Bible was just that a Book. When all of the Books of the Bible are put together in one tomb, then it is called a Bible. Highlighting and marking and putting a Bible study in your Bible is not desecrating the Bible and therefore it is not wrong.

IMHO - No, there is nothing wrong with highlighting various passages.

You are changing nothing by doing so!

As such, some Bibles have the words of Our Savior, highlighted in red! Easier to spot the words of Christ!

Hope this helps -

What difference does it make. There are 23 different versions of the bible, all have been editied by MAN after being written by MAN.

Right and wrong are merely points of view mostly driven by society. What was right 2000 years ago is no longer considered right.

Besides, all printed books use paper. Paper was invented to be written on. Become a poet-laureat with your paper.

No, I don't think it's wrong at all. God wants us to study His Word, and highlighting and writing notes can be a great help.

I am sure that it's not the act of highlighting, it's the words under them that need to be kept as in the original.

highlighting and notes and such would be fine as long as its part of studying it, not trying to change it.

>>"I am sure that it's not the act of highlighting, it's the words under them that need to be kept as in the original. "<<

well, since they introduced the eternal hell thing, its only fitting.

no. you're question makes no sense. How does highlighting a word erase it or add a word to it?
