I answered this before; but since u have asked again; here it goes again:


Black color radiates heat more efficiently than any other color. Hence Ic's are painted black so that maximum amount of heat is radiated into the air.

I have some Ic's which are not black.. but i think it might be because of the shell around the circuit which is used to absorb the heat away from the gates being black in color

Mostly IC's are made up of the combination of silicon and germanium materials... Silicons's nature colour is black. So IC's are black in colour.
Also all the IC's are not in Black.

They're not all black. Typical injection molded plastic packages are black. Other plastic packages are dull yellow.

Ceramic packages can be while, gray, purple, brown. Metal packages can be silvery, gold.
