Ever have someone poke you gently in the shoulder and continue to do it. At first it is accepted and forgotten then it gets a little aggravating, then really sensitive and painful and if they don't stop it becomes intensly maddening then when you think you can't take it know more you snap and snap their finger off.
When a religious individual anoints you with a blessing after fifty other acquaintances have tried to ram their beliefs down your throat a simple blessing is one more attempt to convert you.
Bless them silently and just tell them thank you.

I can understand where your coming from as some would say it as a means of offering some common courtesy or comfort. But some may not agree with your views and tend to find it as "preachy" or condescending towards thier given faith. It's not arrogance, it's just being respectful of others.

No one around me has ever been called arrogant for saying bless you. But you know what they say. The only time you hear the name of the lord and savior at the Unitarian church is when the janitor hits his thumb with his hammer.

I think some people are bitter at religious people cuz they have taken way to many slings and arrows from religious people knocking them down. What I think alot of people don't understand about religious people is that these people have found something to die for and you don't really wanna mess with that.

nobody has the right to bless anyone. in assuming that you have the right means that you put yourself above the rest of us. ergo, arrogant and supercillious.

Because christians have been mean for centuries, by claiming christianity you carry the burden that goes with it, if you ask me you get what you deserve.

I think what happens is you hit a primordial nerve that is brought on by simple fear of the unknowing...very opinionated one way or the other it seems...an eagerness to understand that which we can't prove or disprove one way or the other...unknowing...real primordial stuff...
