read a BIG BIG variety of books. Read books that are about things like different religions. Or history. Read a book about a mental disorder. Or a book about sexuality.

i do not know what improvement you are asking but i will try to reply this question in a better way.
As a Muslim i started my day with fajar prayer which is success, then ends a day with isha prayer again success.
Quran teaches us to be truthfull and have patience. so i am trying to be true and patient.
To improve ourselves we should learn:
that it is not good to compare oursevels with others;
to forgive by practising forgiveness;
that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least;
that two people can look at the same thing and seeing it differently;
that it is not enough that we forgive one another,but we must also forgive ourselves;
that not to give profound wounds to someone, it can take many years to heal them.
Be Blessed!!

well you won't actually find any answers to this question in a book. books may be non fiction but they still arent real life they don't experience joy laughter or pain. to improve yourself you need to do all those things that you've always talked about doing and never got around to or just follow the dreams of what you want to accomplish in your life no matter how stupied you may seem to others or feel yourself cause then wiether you accomplish them or fail you lived a more full and rich life and learned and bettered yourself on the way. hope that helps my friend

To improve ourselves we should learn how to love it,..... And meditate and ask for guidance... Feel free.... Seek what yourself want to be... Go to a confession...

religiously or "improve" as a person?
religiously i guess try to get more in touch with god and his/her/it teachings.
improve as a person would be to discipline yourself from being selfish, judgmental...learning to tolerate different people, religion, culture, traditions, beliefs/ideas, race, sexual orientation, understanding different situations from someone elses perspective [if you were in someone elses shoes], give a helping hand to people and animals with needs not for a reward but to do a good deed and help bring peace on earth. taking actions for your own responsibility rather then blaming it on a "tempter" or "evil being".
