From the limited information that you have given, my guess is that the girl really likes you, but is just shy. I am guessing that she asked you out in a moment of being brave, but later said to herself "what am I doing!" Maybe she had cold feet about it. You should try asking her out and seeing what happens.

Another perspective could be that she asked you out, but after talking to some friends, finding out some new information about you, or thinking more about it she changed her mind. Could it be that you are a playboy or there are any possible rumors about you?

I have no clue of course, but when these things happen like you describe, there are reasons and I have only a couple that really seem to make sense with what you've told us so far. If you want to add more details, I can think more about it.

How shy could she be if she asked you out? I don't guess I'd think much of it, just try to talk to her and let her know there's nothing to be shy about. Maybe try to get to know each other before going on that first date. I had lots of guys to ask me to go out some time and then never mention it anymore. I just went on with my life. I couldn't figure out why they done that, but it wasn't the most important thing in my life, so I just went out with someone else and eventually got married. I was so shy on our first date that I could barely eat, but after we saw each other a few times, I became less and less shy. Now I'm just my silly self and love that I don't have to put on any false shows for him. Try asking her out this time. Good luck. Hope everything goes good.

I would think that she is too nervous to follow through with it, so I'd be the one who did the asking.

I would have two feelings 1: flattered 2: scared, because if my wife found out she would kill me.[just joking]
