The main difficulty with the argument is that we know that the universe had a beginning, 13.6 billion years ago. Our physics is not adequate to determine exactly how the big bang began. So, it isn't wrong to suppose that God did it -- but it isn't right, either.

Explain Miracles then.
While your at it, explain Exorcisms and why people become possessed by the devil. There cannot be a devil without a God.
Explain why actual artifacts are being found from stories in the Bible.
Explain why the bible seems to of predicted everything we see happening today.
Explain why the ocean stops and doesn't flood the earth. Why would such a perfectly synchronized world just appear?
Explain why Scientists do not have an explanation for everything.
Someone answer all of those questions logically for me and then we will discuss if God exists or not.
This is honestly a question that will never end. I'd rather believe there is a God instead of disbelieving. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong, big deal. If I'm right, I'd rather go to heaven. Besides, if everyone lived by and followed the bible. We wouldn't have a problem getting along, would we?

First off, the universe itself has no intelligence within itself. It does not have to power to create anything on its own. Second, we know it is winding down, through the laws of entropy. There is now less usable energy then previously. And eventually, without divine intervention, the universe will run out of energy. This fact alone leads one to believe that since it can have a possible ending, it must have had a beginning. If it was a constant force, that is, the available, usable energy was constant, year to year, then you could make the claim that it is a self-existing entity. But, since this is not the case, the only conclusion you can logically come up with is that it had a beginning and someone or something, with vast intelligence and power, started it or created it. God would fit the bill. God is constant, His power, intelligence and dominion has not diminished with time. He is the same as He was at the creation. He is the only self-existing one, the only being who needs nothing or anyone to sustain His existence.

This is because mathematically, to get where we are today, time had to have a beginning. The universe cannot exist without time, because it is based within the limits of time. God IS. He does not have a beginning or an end, nor is he dependent on time.
Do I understand how one can exist without time? No. The bible does spell out very clearly though that the Lord our God isn't dependent on the time He created, while the universe he created is completely dependent.

because greater minds than us have decided that the universe should have a beginning... that is why they (scientists) had to put up theories on its origin.
(the Big Bang Theory being one of the theories)
now one of the theories is something regarding an argument for a prime mover & is argued as:
1. everything that exists or begins to exist has a cause.
2. the universe exists and began to exist.
3. the universe must have a cause.
4 the cause of the universe is God.
okay, this argument can be deemed as an argument for God...
but change God to the Prime Mover & you have a mover (or the first mover) that is unmoved or is the first cause (or as some people call or know as God)

quote:
"Acclaimed British physicist Stephen Hawking has said that humanity is finally getting close to understanding the origin of the universe.
Speaking at a lecture in Hong Kong, Hawking said that despite some theoretical advances in the past years, there are still mysteries as to how the universe began.
'Despite having had some great successes, not everything is solved. We do not yet have good theoretical understanding of the observation of the expansion of the universe,' "

Hey girl! That's why you could be an atheist. The universe was created by the Big Bang because of helium and hydrogen gas heating up (u probably learnt that at school) and not exactly god. It's the sciences.

Because God is a being, and the universe is a thing. Things just don't exist, they have to be made.
Also, all our math, physics, and astronomy points to truth that the universe had a beginning, therefore, someone had to create it, and that someone is God.
