You will have to be firm with this dog. This is a learned behavior. The dog is trying to get your attention. When the dog is trying to paw at you, say "NO" or "OFF" and turn away. You will have to use the same word and be consistent. Do not give the dog any attention when he is doing this, but as soon as the dog is not pawing you, you MUST praise...praise...praise him/her to get the point across that when you don't paw you get attention. Good Luck.

Hi!
You can stop a dog from pawing you by gently removing the paw(s) from you and saying in a commanding voice OFF! You need to be consistent with it though. Also, you can fill an empty soda can with stones, marbles...etc and shake that at the dog as you are saying OFF!
Good Luck!

Say no and step into the paw. It makes them stop temporally. You must be consistent with your requests of the dog. Eventually it will stop. Try redirection, throw a ball, get a toy. All things with animals are learned by repetition. Keep it up it will pay off.

If you mean jumping up and placing their front paws on you, this can be too much especially if the dog is large enough to knock you over. I had a big dog who would come at you full speed just to greet you. A dog trainer finally gave me this suggestion and it cured the dog in just three times. He said to dump a mug of water on the dog every time it jumped up on you. I kept a mug handy and emptied the water on the dog when he jumped. He was cured in just three times and never did it again. For awhile I kept the mug around and when he saw it he would remember and not jump.

ignore the dog when it paws at you, reward the dog when they dont paw at you, DO NOT MAKE A GAME OUT OF IT! dont pull your leg back or whatever the dog is pawing at! it will think you are playing with it and keep doing it!
hope this helps!

No, the question is, Why would you let a dog paw you in the first place?

You mean like jumping up on you? They do that to be at your level, they are wanting your attention. Give them the attention but not if they're jumping.

You can wear a raincoat and let them jump but look up at the sky... don't give them any attention. Get a friend to assist so he'll know how to treat others, not just mommy or daddy.

Or you can hold the dog's front paws and squeeze them a little so it's slighly uncomfortable to teach him that jumping is unwanted. Or make them dance with you with their weight in limbo... that really makes them realize they don't want to be suspended in air.

Otherwise I don't know what you mean by a dog from pawing you. I think that term is one you need to be really clear on.

Hold it's foot and knock your knuckles on it's wrist and say, NO.
.... If it's yours and you want to teach it not to put it's foot up anyway.
That's what I do with mine, she hates it, but she doesn't but up her feet anymore, good.
