Is the stone of the avocado used for anything, and is it poisonous to eat?

I am fond of eating raw avocados and would like information about uses for the stone in the fruit.

you can plant the seed. It makes a nice plant.
Stick toothpicks in the seed to hold it and put it in a cup or glass to take root, then plant it in a nice pot.

Now, why would you want to eat an avocado pit? The avocado is good enough for you; you don't need to eat the pit. It tastes awful and it might make you sick. When I was a kid, I ate everything but an avocado pit. Even though I had very little food to eat. You couldn't be that hungry? You can plant it. In a few years, you will have many avocados to eat and many more avocado pits to plant.

You can grow a plant from the stone. Do not eat the seed of an avocado.

Where I live we just plant the seed in the ground. If you live in a more northern climate you can pierce the seed in the middle all around with toothpicks at north, east, west, south. Suspend the seed over a glass of water with the water coming half way up the seed. Bright sun and the seed will sprout.

it's called a "pit". and don't eat it because it tastes sour. instead you can grow a tree from it by putting it inside of a shot glass, always with water, in month you'll have a avocado baby tree.

Once I sprouted it and planted it. It made a long leavy plant that obviously wanted to be a tree. It didn't get enough love as a houseplant, and we didn't live in an appropriate envirnonment to plant it so it died.

That's about it as far as I know. But it was fun!!!
