They can drive, but they do it the Chinese way. It is normal to cross the line into oncoming traffic to get by another car. It is normal to turn a two lane road into three or four lanes. It is normal to use your horn a lot in traffic. It tells people you are coming through. I have an expat friend who has his license and they taught him when to use the horn. What looks like chaos to us somehow works for them. However, when they take these driving skills abroad it does look like they can't drive.

Who says they can't drive? It is just their way of driving and that doesn't go with your style of driving.
The ""chaos" you'll see on the streets is normal for them. Here in China it is normal to drive 4 cars next to each other in a two lane street. It is normal to pass another car on the right and then cut in front of it to make a left turn.
What is chaos to us works well for them. I have been living in Chongqing, China for over a year now and am still surprised you don't see many accidents on the roads.

Don't generalize. It only takes 1 Chinese person (Chinese citizen or one person of Chinese descent) to prove it wrong. They are so many I'm sure at least 1 has to be able to drive.

No-- sorry, but it
s true -- Chinese (and Taiwanese) absolutely cannot drive--- they are simply not predisposed to understanding that sometimes other people get to go first. They also cannot form a queue for this same reason. They are a very selfish culture.

on the contrary, chinese people drive quite well, if you had to drive under the same conditions, i'm sure you wouldn't do as well as they do. conditions are crowded and accidents are few considering those conditions, i have spent time in guangzhou, beijing and shanghai, and that is my opinion

BECAUSE..... in the mainland, its something great to own a car.
no matter its a cab, truck, buses or anything that moves that require a motor to power it, has doors. they think that they are much more superior IF they are driving.
