what did it take to wake you up? if people are trying to intervene was it enough? what was going thru you mind when they were talking to you? that you didn't have a problem?

Denial is not just a river in Egypt. Denial, Denial, and then I was absolutely convinced that # 1 I was way to slick for people to know.
#2 I thought I could control it. #3 Nobody could of helped, cause I wouldn't listen anyway. After a while I just avoided those who would confront me about it. Besides, I was too busy hanging with the wrong crowd. I hid it pretty well for 3 years, but, that don't last long. I finally got help from NA & AA. Moved away from the bad influences, made lifestyle changes. You have to be really motivated to quit. You cannot do it alone. I almost lost my kids, that was the big motivator. It's been 11 years. YEAH!

I never denied having a problem. When people would try to convince me to get help I made up excuses ...becauses I really didnd't want to get better...I knew I was hurting my friends but I didn't care..I was getting high...that's all that mattered. I went thru rehab 3 times...would usually use the same day I left.. Finally I hit rock bottom and it was then that I knew that I had to get help or else.

Well, I was hopelessly addicted to huffing gasoline before I stopped cold turkey about 20 hours later. Other than that, no.

Well let's see. Demolished cars, jail, fighting, failed romances, family hated me. Hmmmmm, maybe that's why i dont do any of that crap any more, lol. Getting over denial that you have a problem is the first step.
