my 5 month old cat seems to be biting at his tummy fur and has balding patches which have small scabs on them?

Well, the balding patches are probably from his biting himself. Not sure why he is doing that...maybe you should take your kitty to the vet.

I would take the cat to a vet. this could be from dry skin or possibly some sort of rash that needs medicine. This is something that has to dealt with immediately or the cat make start getting sores which can get infected.

Check for fleas, take a very fine toothed comb, comb it a few times in several places.Clean out the comb into a smear of water,if it turns reddish your cat has fleas.

If you haven't already then check for flea and if there are then get some flea treatment.

If there is no sign of flea then get the cat checked out by a vet

Have you checked to see if he has flee's? My friends cat has very bad reaction when it gets flee's vet said an allergy, it will bite and chew at itself and lose most of it's hair. I would check that and if not then maybe consult a vet.

It sounds like he has a skin problem. It could be external parasites, such as fleas or mange mites. It could also be a hormone problem, or an allergy. That's something only the vet can diagnose.

i would get him to the vet they are most likely the only ones who can tell you why hes doing that and im sure he will be ok. he could have dry skin or fleas maybe.

most likely he is doing his because it itches and it could be a lot of reasons why he is doing this. the most common reason would be ring worm ask your vet about it

it could be a staph infection. But you need anti biotics for that. Def have it checked out.
