if i were you to easy your mind i would have your child check by a dr could be the flu or your child could be teething i know from experience having an 11 month old grandson who has croup that eating is not high on there priority list as long as your child is getting the liquids in but still have a dr check your child over the old saying is an ounce of provention is better than a pound of cure

My daughter is 5yrs and she has been like this most her life she will go on tangents where she will eat all the time and then other times not want to eat at all it is growth spurts that they go through...The hard thing is, is that we can't force our children to eat at these ages beacuse of the way their bodies are...You could get him checked and if he isn't eating much make sure he drinks plenty of liquids and if you want you could also try him on Pediasure it is like Ensure but for children 1 a day is good it helps them to still get the protien they need if they are eating well. My daughter loves the pediasure so u shouldn't have a problem getting him to drink it. As long as he isn't losing an extravagent amount of wait he should be ok just make sure he gets a lot of liquids and if you are worried take him to the doctor just in case. Good luck

Honestly, I taken my 18 month old into the doctor for the same reason. He advised that al children go through this because they are to concerned with playing that they just forget to eat. Its not hurting them, so to make sure I started buying the Pediasure Nutrapals drinks, and I give those to him in his sippy cup. He is difinatley getting the nutrients he needs with those. You should try it. Also, Ive found that when my son wakes up, he is whiny, and so I automatically give him something to eat and if I do that, instead of off the bat giving him something to drink. He tends to eat very well all day long. You should also try that.

Ummm 1 serving = 1 meal thats what it means
Dont worry yet. Kids go through periods of eating and non eating ALL the time.
My 6 year odl has been like that his whole life. Somedays he will eat more than I can and others he just barely picks at his meal.
For awhile I used to try to get him to eat until our Doctor set me straight and told me to let him eat at his own pace.
But if it continues then take him to the doctor to get a professional opinion.

Just for piece of mind go get his throat check but this is a phase my son is 22 months and does the same thing. However I can always get his to eat a few cheese crackers with peanut butter on them.I figure as long as he is getting something in him that is somewhat healthy that he will eat when he is hungry!

My son is like this.
While he normally eats like an adult, he occasionally slows on his own. This can mean a couple of things.
1: He may be catching an illness. Watch for other symptoms, like crying, excessive gas, diarrhea and such.
2: He might just have stopped growing for a bit. Just like kids eat more in a growth spurt, they eat less at a slow growing time.

Sounds like a growth spurt coming on. Kids will eat everything in sight for weeks and then want nothing for a week or so, then if you measure them or weigh them they will have gotten a bit bigger. Or it could be a dozen other things. Like he is pulling "power play" on you, it could be a sore throat, it could be that he just isn't hungry, or he no longer cares for those kinds of foods. Kids change their minds about food quite often.

It very normal for kids to go through these periods. I sometimes wonder how my 2 1/2 year old survives! But he will eat when he's hungry don't worry.

i would give it a couple more days. toddlers go through phases in their eating habits, and it is not uncommon for a series of days with barely any food consumed. if you are concerned, you should really call your pediatrician. thats what he is there for, and he can tell you any other things to look out for if there is a possible problem.
