I am buying my husband a pea coat for Christmas. I am stuck on what size to get. He is 6'4" 1/2 ....250 pounds and his chest is muscle like. He wears a 3x in his shirts. How would I go about sizing his coat. What does the sizes mean as it relats to L, XL, XXL when the sizes are like 52, 54, 56, 58. Would 58 be likea 5x? Please answer if you really know. Thank you and I appreciate it.

I already know what size he is, but pea coats run different. See that would be a female answer that why I am asking men. (LOL)

I am 260, 6ft 1, and wear a 52 long. You have to go for chest size...tightness/looseness in back across the shoulders...and sleeve length. I suggest you compare his othe coats and make sure you can return an incorrect size to the store. I know Men's Wearhouse offers alterations to their clothing. Hope he likes it!

size 54 is 3 x and 56 is 4 x

I dont know if this will help or not but I bought my husband ,who is rather large ,a coat they wanted his neck measurement like for a shirt. The coat fit exatly perfect. Good luck

better ask the sales clerk what size correspondes - my guess is XXL but don't know about the length etc. maybe a 56

You can't go by sizes as brand names and manufactures vary enough to significantly affect the fit. The best thing to do is get his actually measurements and provide this information to the vendor for the best fit.
