The Japanese attacked the Pearl Harbor to decapitate the US armed forces in the Pacific and it enable them to invade Asian countries with little opposition.

sure they did. i became into stationed in Pearl Harbor for 5 years. i don't have confidence that any of the submarines made it into the harbor yet they did attempt! i understand that some have been stumbled on washed up on a sea coast someplace! attempt looking up newspapers from Pearl Harbor on Dec. 8th and 9th.

they did it in an act of desperstion . the japs were cut short of oil and steel the raw materials they needed the most for the war and they thought that by destroying the entire pacific fleet they would silence the americans so the invaded the pearl harbour.

lack of raw materials...we stopped sending them raw materials that they depended on for the war even though we were "neutral"...thus they decided to attack us...they chose pearl harbor because they thought they would wipe out the whole pacific fleet at one time...
