We scurry into the house and remain as quiet as possible. They scare me.

I am one of those people.
I'm trying to live in fulfillment of the prophecy that states that during the time of the greatest crisis and loss of life in human history, the largest preaching and teaching campaign would be going on at the same time. I study Paleo-semetic Hebrew, Post-Exillic Hebrew, Koine Greek, and some Latin, so I try to be as knowledgeable as possible about which I speak.
All we try to do is find ones who are disgusted by the current conditions of the world, and preach what Jesus preached. That the actual goverment, Kingdom of God that Daniel 2:44 talks about is mankinds only hope. If they are interested, we will offer more.
We also offer literacy classes to the community. We're trying to get to know our neighbors better in a world that is quickly becoming a world where people alienate themselves from one another. Even if ones aren't interested, a knowledge and understanding of our own neighbors beliefs leads to greater tolerance in the world. And god knows this world could use more tolerance.
I don't mind if someone is not interested. I may be curious as to why, but I'd much rather be told that you're not interested, than in a song and a dance around it. I've been hit, spit on, cussed at. I wonder why ones just can't say: "No thank you" and leave it at that as Keri B stated. Heck, in some countries we receive much worse. God knows I'd much rather be in a warm bed that morning. Just a "no thank you" will do, and I'll be on to the next door.

The only religious people that come to my door are Jehovah's Witnesses. And they were coming to see me at least once every 3 days at one point. It didnt get me upset....it got me ANGRY. My partner actually told them to F OFF at one stage and it didnt work.
I was told by a friend the best way to the scare them off is to say that you are "ex-communicated". This just means that you were kicked out of the segregation for wrong doings and they dont want anything to do with you.
So that is what i did - i told them that. They are not allowed to talk to you if you have been ex-communicated. I have NEVER in my life seen two people nearly RUN from my door as fast as they did!
Oh yeh and i forgot to mention - they never came back ;o)

I open the door and tell them I'm not interested before they get a chance to come all the way up my sidewalk and to the door bell. They get this dejected look and then they go on their merry way.
I've also done the quiet thing for them and for other solicitors. I can't wait until I can just put up a fence and get a frontyard dog.

Theres no need for me to not answer the door for have no reason to hide-thats kind of silly. Since the only ones that ccome around are the Jehovah Wittnesses I simply say that I wish them a good day but as long as they believe that Jesus Christ and St.Michael the Archangelare the same(Which they do-do not believe that Jesus Christ is God) that I really can't discuss their faith for consider it heresy they always choose to leave and do not press me further. But I still am hospitable for thats how my Mother raised me and am kind for am a Christian

I love opening the door and giving them a Bible lesson for the day. Of course it would be rude for them to just leave in mid sentence so my sentences are never ending. They go hopefully a little more informed than when they come. Never a problem for me.

Yeah. We call that HBH - "home but hiding". We know you're there and it doesn't phase us. Contrary to what you believe, we're not there to convert you. We're there to fulfill our commission from Christ Jesus to give a thorough witness (Acts 10:42) and to declare the good news of God's Kingdom (1 Corinthians 9:16). If you choose to hear what we have to say, great! If you choose not to, that's fine too. If you choose to hide in your homes, more power to you. As for lying to us, hey, that too is your choice. But you might want to remember that Satan was also a liar. And you know what God thinks of him, don't you? If not, you might want to pick up your Bible and look it up.

I have experienced letting those people come in our house when I was still living in our country, but always end up selling brochures, they were saying it was only donations but there was a certain amount, they are convincing us to join their religion, that cannot be, everyone will only end up arguing, you do not say your religion is better than my religion, that is not the way to convince people to be a believer. One should not say bad about other religion, it is a matter of respect. It is a matter of showing good deeds, sharing, and helping people. whatever religion, still there is only one God.

I answered my door and I haven't been sorry even one day since. That was in 1982. Try it--you might find everlasting life at the end of it all.

You might want to answer the door and examine what they have to say. How do you know if you will believe or not if continue to remain ignorant. I do not know of anyone who studied the Bible well and did not believe. Meanwhile the fact that you do not believe will not make God any less real, HE is REAL!!!
