So many damn good questions about this topic so I'll ask just one.

You pray for children, friends and family.
Some of the higher faith even pray for their enemies....so why not
pray for the devil?

Do you not believe that he can be saved too?

Yes,"...and Satan shall be transformed into an angel of Light..."-----Beware of those who cannot forgive or those who believe any being deserves eternal damnation.--------Many think they are experts in the Law, but have yet to learn of the Spirit. Remember the Paraclete.

The devil is a fallen angel, and salvation was never even offered to the angels. In order to receive salvation you need to have faith. Angels know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is real, and that Jesus is the second in the trinity, so they cannot decide to accept what they already know.

I don't pray for Satan. Although I am very saddened by his story. It's awful. Lucifer was the greatest of all the angels, God's "number one angel," and he threw it all away by falling to pride.

The reason I don't pray for Satan and devils is because, unlike humans (who undergo tests of faith continually throughout their lives), angels had one single test of faith, before the creation of man. Unlike us, they cannot repent and be saved through Jesus. I don't even know if they could repent...In any case, though, they're beyond the help of our prayers.

It's kind of the opposite of praying for saints. They're (almost) polar opposites, yet both cases are not useful, because either way, our prayers are not needed. Prayer cannot save the damned, and prayer is not required for the saved.

(Although there is one case I could see for praying for saints; if you pray that their names be spread to the world so others can honor them and request their intercession.)

So short answer: No, I do not believe Satan can be saved. He forfeited the Kingdom long ago.

Excellent question! Mark Twain pondered this same thing quite often (check out the Bible According to Mark Twain): "Who here does not have the most decent compassion to pray for the soul who needs it most?"

To me it causes serious problems of a theological point: namely, that if the Bible say Satan will be destroyed (to make a long story short), then God knows what will happen and that it cannot be changed. But if there is free will, why could Satan not change his ways and ask for forgiveness (does forgiveness not apply to Satan as well?). If Satan cannot be saved, then why not? Has God already condemned him to be evil? This begs predestination, in which case we have no choice on accepting God and God has already foreordained our salvation.

I've asked many people in my church this question. I've learned that you can pray for him but it will do no good. Satan will NEVER change, he is never ask God for forgiveness, he will never stop his ways. God will never forgive, even if he asked for forgiven. What Lucifer did in Heaven before his fall, God punished him for eternity and created hell just for him and the demons and for the unforgiveable sin against the Holy Spirit.

Plus Satan is an angel. God created him first in the line of archangels. He is now a fallen angel. We can't pray for angels. Not for him or any of the angels that followed him to hell (demons now) nor for any other angel (of course that's because they are in Heaven and souls in Heaven don't need prayers because they are already there). But prayers for angels are never needed. We can ask the angels in Heaven to pray for us, though.

I felt this way before too, and thought it was the right thing to do. The Bible tells us to pray for our enemies, and satan is certainly our enemy. A Christian friend told my why satan is the exception to the command to pray for our enemies. Because of who satan is, he is not savable. I will edit my answer and tell you more if she works in the morning. If she doesn't, hopefully some other answers will elaborate on why satan is unsavable.

The devil doesn't exist, so no. and Jesus has been lifeless for particularly a lot 2 millenia, so how ought to a dull guy forgive. also, presence you sense is the guilt that Christianity has ingrained in you.

He only exist as a construct in our own minds and mythology as a counterpoint to God. Light needs dark to exist in the material world, but God exists beyond and before this world ... there is no devil, ever ... except in the mind, which is of this world too.

Pray for him if you want, it won't hurt, and maby it will help you.
I like your attitude though. If I thought I could save anyone ... even the worst ... I would pray.

Go for it.

Yours Truly;
Jonnie

I've heard of "Pray like the Devil", but never pray for the devil.

It will do no good. Satan is a created being albeit the most powerful and intelligent being ever created. He chose to rebel in the presance of God. We are the product of the famous original sin. We are allowed to repent.

No, for one, Jesus died for humanity, not for angels ,fallen or otherwise. He is a fallen angel. He had a TON of access to everything having to do with God, and totally knew, what he was doing when he did it. I believe he cannot, and does not want to, be saved. He hates God, and hates his creation. He tries to bring the creation of God down to the same ultimate place with him. Satan does NOT care, what religion, if any you practice, as long as you deny or hate God. Then, he will feel he has succeeded in hurting God just a bit more. He knows he is going down, and pretends to be nice to some of the creation, but he is just a lying angel of light at times.
