A word for the British.
De Havilland DH98 Mosquito. It carried 4,000 lbs to Berlin at similar speed to a Mustang and with a crew of two. B17s carried 4-6000 lbs. The fighter versions carroed 4 20mm cannon and 4 303 machine guns and could still carry the bomb load.
Avro Lancaser would carry a typical load of 14,000 lbs and a maximum of 22,000 lbs.
The B52 is probably the most proven and effective, but you asked favorite and not best, so I guess it will have to be the Mosquito.

The XB-70 Valkyrie!
This aircraft has the best lift/drag ratio of any plane in the world with its 'compression lift' wings. It was heavier than the B-52 by 100,000 lbs and way faster (Mach 3). With a 7600mile range, it almost matched the range of the B-52.
The Avro Vulcan comes in a very close second.

For me it's a tie between the B-58 and the B-1B. Both are absolutely beautiful in my opinion, some kind of perfect blend of design and function. In its day the B-58 set so many records it was virtually untouchable. When I picture in my mind a jet bomber, those two come to mind.

Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. It was one of two heavy bombers in the European theater during World War II and was able to take tremendous amount of punishment and still return to base. One of the famous B-17 is the "Memphis Belle", the first to complete 25 bombing mission.

B-52! Gotta love the old Buff. Most of the are older than the PARENTS of the pilots flying them.
