I've had my retainer on tonight and you know those top two brackets that shape over your teeth? I noticed that one of them kind of sticks out a little more outward. What is this due to? I've had a retainer that I wear a good majority of the day since i had my braces off several months ago, and im being checked out in January. I'm really worried that my teeth are going to shift because of the front bend of the retainer. Is it going to do that? The bracket im talking about kind if touches over my top lip a bit when I smile now, and I notice it. Am I obsessing maybe?

Assuming this is a conventional Hawley's retainer. Check:

1. The retainer is fitted snugly on the back of every teeth.
2. The wire between the lip and the face of the front teeth is touching the six front teeth (from canine to canine)
3. The little U-shape part at either the ends of the wire is about .5 - 1mm from the gum and teeth.

If all three of the above are checked, then your retainer is ok. If any of those above is not, call your dentist for earlier appointment. It only takes 24-48 hours for the teeth to shift (relapse).

IF THIS WAS NOT PRESENT BEFORE THIS COULD BE A BEND IN THE WIRE. HOWEVER, THIS MAY WELL BE A DESIGN FOR THIS PARTICULAR RETAINER. CALL THE ORTHODONTIST TO BE SURE.

I advise which you're taking the retainer into the workplace and enable them to know they gave you the incorrect colour and tell them the way it feels on your mouth. the only time it would harm is once you dont placed on it for a whilst then placed it back on.
