Genesis1:1-5, In the biginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good:
and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And the evening and morning were the first day.

I'm a christian, and I do not believe that.

I'm a christian who believes in the Genesis creation account, and I believe that the universe is at the very least 18 billion years old, the earth is about 5 billion years old, and it took many eons of time to get through what the Bibles creation "days". The bible teaches that a day with God can last many thousands of years.

You may find the readings of Genesis 1 interesting, when compared to the thoughts of a micobiologist like Michael Behe.

Well, I think it means 7 days in God's time which wouldn't rely on the sun since he doesn't live on earth. I also doubt that God's days are the same as our 24 hour days. They are probably much longer which would account for the entire earth being created in only 7 days. (I'm not a religious scholar by any means though so these are just theories that I have heard and make some amount of sense to me.)

1st of all, God created earth in 6 days, the 7th day He rested. (Genesis 2:2)

God created Light, so there was light and dark even though He created sun after the earth
"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day." (Genesis 1:3-5)

What has you confused is that The CREATOR separated the light from the darkness first.
But the Sun we know was not made until the sixth day. When the Physical universe was made.
the use of the sun to count days is a man made invention. As the Creator lives in the Eternal Now.

Days are just a 24 hr. period. They still have days in Alaska where it can be dark for 24 hrs. a day for months at a time.

Don't focus on what "Christians" say. You need to Read the first several chapters of Genesis. Listening to people when it comes to Jesus can sometimes lead you astray. You need to get it from the only true source...the Bible.
