Science goes against "almost everything" the bible says? Think about that for a moment. Sure, science makes the first book of the bible look like a foolish childrens' story. Science makes Jesus's resurrection seem impossible. But look at what else you are throwing out. You're throwing out teachings about love and kindness. You're throwing out the idea of spirituality and pacificsm. Don't look to the Bible to be an absolute proof that God does or does not exist. Look at the Bible as a first hand account of God's movements through history. Even if the writers of the bible sometimes wrote poetry rather than history, it doesn't invalidate the usefulness of the book.

Science is a study of the creation, how things work, how things may have been made. Science is only mortal man's feeble attempt using his limited mind to interpret the information that he receives from his limited senses to understand the world in which he lives.

God did not "create" science. He created the world and the rules by which the world "works". The Bible does not teach how God did this, only that God did.

To say that science goes against almost everything the Bible says is a false dichotomy. It is like two people arguing about the nature of water, one says "water is wet", the other argues "no, water is H2O."

Well, I guess this question is really for those biblical literalists who think everything in the bible is fact. I don't believe that, though, and feel that the Bible was not meant as a history book, or meant to be taken literally. The Old Testemant primarily uses symbolism and allegory and myth to try and convey the authors' God Experience. To take the Bible as a Fact Book is to miss the point of the beauty lying between the lines. The great irony here is that the Biblical fundamentalists are really getting LESS out of it than us realists, who believe in both God and Science!

You have been misled by perhaps a majority that the Bible contradicts science, as some try to make a verse fit what they think, and not let the Bible speak for itself, and explain what it means. When they do this, they end up making the Bible look foolish, which it is not. Then, unfortunately, people such as yourself believe that this is what the Bible actually teaches.

It is not a science textbook, and is not meant to be. But when it touches on matters of science, it is highly accurate.

you'll sense free to carry close it became my lack of ability to preserve those beliefs that led me to the end that one of those being because the mono-deity defined by the Bible, or any mono-deity, can no longer exist :-) Edit: Oh, Gawd. If God inspired the e book, it should be a.) completely sparkling if our little immortal souls were at stake and God shall we free a sneaky tempter to trick God's 'loved' creation into an eternity of suffering (how loving of Him). b.)the author's may also be one hundred% precise. (no metaphorical the following, literal there excuses) I see a lot of you confuse the note 'gentle' with the solar. 'gentle' became the first day, the solar became on the fourth. 'Gravity' is 'only a theory'. If the earth 'hangs' in air, what's it putting from? I see how the verses should be interpreted quite it seems that because the earth being a flat 'circle' yet i visit also see how someone cherry-selections their way into believing it should be twisted common sense explaining the earth is a sphere. nonetheless, i have not seen/study some thing on the following it really is replaced my thoughts or made me imagine, 'Gee, perchance I might want to quite twist meanings and understandings round if it conflicts with my common experience'.

Nonsense! True science doesn't go against the teachings of the Bible, it verifies the Bible. God created the laws on which science is founded. True science has verified the teachings of the Bible over and over and over again. It has never and will never prove the Bible wrong

I highly suggest that you take some upper-level science and philosophy classes, as it becomes apparent there (if not earlier) that the two actually complement each other very well. Science is not the work of the devil, it is a good way that we can see how very glorious God is for being able to create such a wonderful, evolving universe.

The Bible is not a book about science, it has some facts about it, but is no a science book, specially when science is always correcting and changing their opinions, the Bible is a book about God and it's very good on that topic.

The Bible was written by human beings with a different frame of reference from ours. They hadn't learned what we have, and tried to explain the world based on what they could see and touch. God gave us brains and intelligence so that we could explore the world and universe around us and learn what we can from it.

BTW, didn't scientific knowledge combine to create the PC you're currently using to ask your question? Would you really rather be subsisting in a hardscrabble existence, hoping that your crops don't fail and your cattle don't die on you? That's what you would have been facing 2,000 years ago. Do you drive a car? Fly in an airplane? Use a cell phone? Those are just a few of the results of people using their God-given intelligence and curiosity to connect the dots and come up with things that make life better.

Actually Science doesn't contradict the Bible. Some people try to make up their own version of science like evolution. Many scientific laws contradict evolution. Google search the 2nd law of thermodynamics, that goes against evolution.
