No, you will need a special Blue Ray Disc player. Expect a lot of $$$

They are none compatable with any DVD format even HDDVD though both working to same ends but in totaly different direction. Its VHS V BETA all over again (for us old enough to remember that) as the popularity of one gains, the sales of the other falls, and last man standing wins. and everyone who bough the looser, looses big time. Dont see many betamax vidios or tapes in shops nowdays. If you have a blue ray player it will be fine on a compatable tv, ie HD with connections
