I've also got a 2003 4Runner and I haven't been experiencing those problems.

Have a dealer check it out.

I have an 01 Corolla and the map light and door open light have both burned out and been replaced twice. I just leave them burned out now!

If you have an 03 4runner limited, you should still have a b2b warranty on it. If so, (and I know it's a pain) bring it to the dealer and they will replace your bulbs for free, and probably give you more educated answers to your question about this problem!

If my B2B warranty wasnt WAY over I'd still be bringing it back to the dealer for replacement bulbs!

Good luck!

If you have had to replace the bulbs several times you should check with the dealer and see if there was some sort of recall related to that problem with that particular year. Your vehicle is new enough that, if there is a recall, it would probably be fixed for free by your local dealer.
