Ohhhh! You'll have all the atheists here screaming "Pascal's Wager!" You can't use Pascal's Wager! Wah! Wah! Wah!"

Regardless of the atheists inferiority complex about this question it's a very valid one. What you must understand is that an atheist cannot fathom in his/her mind that a life of obedience to God & His laws is freeing rather than constraining. They see it as giving up their "freedom" to follow Him when in reality they are bound and He alone holds the key to freedom.

They might possibly take karate & follow the "rules" of THAT master and submit to his will in an effort to improve their physical bodies & minds but for some reason that gets lost in translation when you try to explain it works the very same way on a spiritual level. The karate that makes them powerful & in-control on earth through obedience to their master is deemed as praise-worthy while the Christian who applies the very same disciplines to the REAL Master on a spiritual level is looked upon as a robot.

Double standards abound my dear. That's life. Some "get it" and some just don't.

I remember a quote, though I can't remember who said it. It was something like " even if there was no God it would be necessary to invent one. It's an interesting concept. It's almost like saying how would you like to live without any laws and controls over murder, theft, abuse, etc. The questions that arise from whether or not there is a supreme Creator or if somehow we just happened to come into existence is an an age old question. After being seriously injured, going into a coma for about 6 Weeks and the doctors telling my family that I was going to die. I had a number of people both here and overseas praying for me. After this intervention I came out of the coma and was out of the hospital in a week. Is this coincidence or spiritual intervention ?-- that is the question. I would like to believe that a loving God intervened in my behalf. I definitely hope so!

You need not die to find out the truth of God's existence. Purifying your heart is the only way that you would be able to
confirm God's existence undoubtedly. Human are made up of water, Air, Fire (Blood) and Earth (Flesh). Relate these 4 elements to the universe , find out how benevolence God is towards mankind. With your patience , you will be able to find God's existence, just trust me.

Instead of falling in the trap of someone elses influence less reason why not live your life as if you invented god and what would be your own idea of serving or moving towards this god after all if one needs a crutch why not custom make it to make sense. self determination and courage are required to gain the enlightenment that is rewarded here and now and not with false promises like a carrot on a stick or tactical fear .
peace out

It means something like if there is a God, then its better to believe in Him than not so that when you die you have nothing to lose. Whereas, if there isn't and you believe, you still have nothing to lose. However, the non believer has a risk to take in both situations.

is that because you believe in a god who would punish you?
is that because you're emotionally weak to accept something for yourself and face the unknown?
is that because you want to believe life is a test and nothing more?
is that because you find comfort and security in this blanket oh hope called god?
is that because it was instilled upon you as a child when you were not yet capable of even comprehending what morals, values and ethics are?
is that because you want to conform?

i'm an agnostic, and i believe in following a life of good morals and honesty, i'm not afraid to face the reality of the existence of a god or the absence of one

that is what the unknown is
the future is always the unknown and you can't always be sheltered from the unknown, you can't always be prepared for it, instead of just accepting an easy answer, find your own beliefs

There is always a God and HE has told the way to live our lives accordingly because HE knows all that we can't, so HIS guidance for our lives will be surly beneficial, because HE created us. "As maker of a calculator can give better guidance about its functionality, some time in the form of detailed booklet."

This is a standard argument I see and hear all the time. It boils down to if YOU BELIEVE or not. How can you live your life as if there is a God if you don't really believe it? Go with your heart.

You will die whether there is or is not a God.

The only way to God is by his/her/it words. The words are spoken by through the prophets. The words you believe or don't believe.

So as lovely as your phrase sound, let me counter with: "I believe the words of the prophets and hope that the promises are fulfilled, even if there is no God."

Try that for faith.

Agreed!

But I like the fact that I live knowing there is a God, and when I die... I won't. (die that is) :)
