Talking about it is different that giving something up or being inconvenienced. For example:
I'm an MBA student and I read something about Gerber foods packaging their baby foods in plastic containers that are not easily recyclable, instead of glass. I e-mailed Gerber and asked them to explain their choice of packaging.
The response said that they surveyed young mothers, who are the ones who make decisions about baby foods most of the time and so are their main market, and the women said they wanted the plastic containers... over 90% I believe they said.
What do we know about young mothers today? They grew up in a generation that had environmentalism drilled into them in schools, the media, etc. If you ask, most would say they care about the environment, right?
Caring only goes so far as it doesn't inconvenience them personally.
Best Wishes,
Sue

Excellent Question!
The smallest gestures towards any person anywhere can have a chain reaction that increases as it goes forward.
Maybe we are helping....recycling is helping the earth, if 3 people recycle it's a small help.....if 3 million people do it...it makes a big difference to the planet.
We all help in small ways, in the circumstances that we are able to. Some people get the "headlines in the newspaper" for starting campaigns to "feed the hungry" or "save the animals"....but there are millions of people who contribute to those causes. In my opinion we don't get public attention for helping, but we help all the time.

I believe that people do care in their own way. I myself give to the homeless when I see them on the street. I think that thelr are so many unfortunate people in the world, than people who are willing to help. There should be more caring people to end poverty and animal welfare. Take care. Kina

I dont know... but I see it too.
I get involved in issues I believe in.
Maybe the majority of people think that their small voice wont make a difference.
