This article basically says someone who needs constant dialysis but is here illegally may not be able to get us to pay for it any more, absent an emergency. Her husband says it isn't fair because they come to work 'not to take advantage', but regular dialysis is hardly cheap and one doubts their taxes cover it. They are thinking of moving to a different state that doesn't have such an 'unfair' law. If the law is passed nationwide, we are cautioned, they will have no choice but to go back across the border.
So are we supposed to think the law making this change is bad, or effective, and a really good idea? The author seems to think we will think the law is bad, given that they may end up having to go back across the border.
I don't see it that way.
What do you think?

Said she has relitives in Mexico... if they go back to Mexico, she can get a transplant. The thing is, they came here illegally, now they are using this condition to try and stay. The simple fact is, it is possible to get a transport, they just need to go back to where they belong.

It sounds like she's getting hemodialysis, as opposed to peritoneal dialysis. Very expensive. There's a good chance that not only do their taxes not cover the costs, their total income may not. Things have probably changed, but when hemodialysis was in its early days, the National Health Service in Britain limited costs by not allowing its use in anybody over age 65. That should give you a reference point. But it gets better: it's a dead certainty that she'll have a life-threatening emergency every time she goes a few days without dialysis (pulmonary edema), wind up in the local emergency department, be admitted for emergency dialysis, and possibly be treated by the same nephrologists who managed her outpatient dialysis, and the costs will skyrocket. If I were the hospital administrator at her nearest hospital, I'd be very worried.

They do not want to become legal citizens because then they wont get any freebies at all.If I had to have dialysis I dont have insurance and cant afford it either since so many illegals raise the cost of hospital bills they either dont pay for or the government pays for. When will Americans start looking after theyre own before we support ungrateful illegals who want to take over the country,I think Im the one missing something here?

dialysis is costly very cost most require it 2-3 times a week and there are a lot of fee's involved. I feel like Mexico should be made to reimburse the hospitals who are losing millions from charity services from people who opted to not eat right or continued to drink or smoke or would not change their diet in the end this it is costly. It's only fair Mexico start offering to pay some of their bills. They get all the rewards. We get all the problems. Pressure should be applied to force Mexico to reimburse us for services render that keeps this person alive. Mexico needs to start acting responsible and expecting to keep their billions of dollars that is just not right with others having to pay their bills

Funny they didn't think of future implications when they crossed, now they expect sympathy and everyone else to take responsibility. I notice the article mentioned nothing about them trying to help pay for the treatment themselves and it's quite interesting how they think that just because they have not outright robbed a bank it absolves them of their crime of illegally entering the country. This article is simply to sway a sympathetic public, I however have no pity. Good post.

I Think She Should Be Deported
As clone_marshal Said,
She Can Get A Transplant In Mexico Via Her Relatives
Or
As Far As I'm Concerned
She Can Die
And I Will Shed No Tears For Her

Nope, you're not missing anything. This is another of the never-ending sobstories that are supposed to make us feel sorry for illegal immigrants - No, I don't feel sorry. Mexico has the facilities to treat and care for this person and so they should go home to Mexico, via deportation, if necessary, if they won't go voluntarily on their own. We should not have to pay for this treatment.

It's another sob-story, they have clinics in Mexico, too...if they don't, they need to start building them...and the more people prevail upon Mexico to undertake the necessary social reforms to take care of their own, the sooner it'll get done.
