If those are really your pictures, don't change a thing you are eating. You look perfect like you are.

You're right. Some starches is okay - it's carbohydrates that is needed by the body.
Better yet is 1/2 of a baked potato instead of a whole, and fill on vegetables to compensate for the other half.

Actually you are both right! Its the kind of starrch that you want to focus on. High GI starches like the ones found in potatoes are not the best choices but the ones found in say... sweet potatoes (ironically sweet because of the kind of starch) or yams are a better choice. As for the girl that talks about carrots and corn, those are the WORST 2 vegtables you could pick to eat, both are high, high, high GI (while low in cals, but thats another debate), so ignore her ignorant answer.

even on the NO carb diets of today they allow starches. Some carbs and starch have to be in a diet or kidney failure will occur. A baked potato will not kill you, but the sour cream and other additives may.

There is starch in carrots and corn. Does your boyfriend have a problem with those? I'll bet he doesn't, because he's ignorant about what starch actually is.
If you're going to eat "starchy" foods, you are best off sticking to whole grains. Brown basmati rice is awesome (it smells like popcorn when it cooks), whole-grain breads full of nuts and seeds are so healthy, and cool grains like quinoa are full of protein. A potato won't kill you, but there are better choices.

Yea, but there's better ways to get starch. Potatoes aren't the healthiest vegetable.

You are correct. Carbs are good for you in moderation. Dieting is not about losing weight but rather changing your life style so that you can maintain that weight. Try to get a balanced diet, protein and a carb with every meal. Don't get discouraged, you can do it!! Good luck and happy holidays!
