My husband drinks every night and I asked him about drinking 0.5% grocery store beer for a few nights. I know there is a little alcohol in it so would he be ok if he was ever pulled over while driving. He would normally drink wine but I've asked him to consider this change mainly because I'm concerned about him driving and drinking. Also he was told today at work he has a urine test coming up in two weeks and has asked me to find out if it would register about 26 hours the next day. He won't drink if it does. Please someone do you know the answers?

.5 % beer has little alcohol. You would have to drink an impossible amount just to even get to the above legal driving limit. I say it is impossible because you would need to drink about 10 of these just to get the same amount of alcohol as what is in a average beer. unless he chugged one after another maybe up to twenty within a short amount of time. I guess it could be done, but who in their right mind would do such a thing. It would be an interesting experiment though. As far as the test I would say not to drink within 16 - 24 hours before hand, This is a little over doing, but in my opinion when your job is on the line, better safe than sorry

Ok your ques is confusing.
A lot of ppl have a drink or two a night and it is totally normal. If your husband is only having this much to drink I would not worry about the driving. As long as your hubby is average say 5'10' around 170 pds he should be able to drink two drinks within 1.5 hours and not get 'busted'. My ques though is you say he drinks everynight...is this at least at home? If he drinks at home then he can drink as much as he wants....just don't get in the car to drive!!!

I don't understand about the .5% grocery store beer...I don't know what this is. But my thought is if your going to have a drink...have a drink. Why torture him w/some near beer.
Alchol in moderation will not show up in a drug screen. Now if he goes out and gets hammered the night before yes it will show, but if it's the two drink average I think he will be fine. But to be on the safe side he should not drink the night before. Sounds like his work is pretty loose giving him that much of an advance notice...heck you can dry out from smoking pot in that amount of time.

Rule of thumb...beer is absorbed by the liver at the rate of about 1 beer per 2-3 hours. So tell him to buy the good stuff, drink less and sleep in late before his test!

Sounds like he may need some help. He definitely needs to stop drinking at least three days before the test or he will be positive. As long as his drinking isn't affecting his home and work life I really don't know what to say to help. However drinking and driving is an issue-if he gets caught it is VERY expensive and some states require jail time. Not to mention the danger he is putting himself and hundreds of others in. Best of luck.

urine tests don't test for alcohol. If he takes a breathalizer, the alcohol won't register after 8-10 hours. Thats if you're fall down drunk the night before :)....drink up!
