I never accused you of not being open-minded! When exactly did I say that?

If you are addressing one person in particulary, you are supposed to do that via private email or IM, not through a Yahoo question. To do so is against the rules.
If you are addressing all atheists as if we are all guilty of the act you are accusing us of, then perhaps you should be cautious about throwing stones within your own glass house.
I personally would not accuse all Christians of being closed-minded. However, I do find that Christians tend to rely upon dogma more often than atheists do, hence the tendency towards closed-mindedness among Christians and open-mindedness among atheists.
For example, regarding homosexuality: On average, the way a heterosexual atheist will react towards someone else's personal choice to practice homosexuality (even if we can even call that a choice) by saying, "Well, I don't get it personally, but so long as you don't hurt anybody, I don't have a problem with it. Live and let live." The average heterosexual Christian, on the other hand, will start citing biblical scripture and telling the guy it's an abomination. That is the difference between open-mindedness and closed-mindedeness: the ability to not shove your point of view down other people's throats.
And no, I don't think that most Christians have embraced their faith after analyzing all belief systems in an unbiased manner. If religion was a rational decision and was not based on the beliefs people are raised with, we'd see a lot more Christians in Saudi Arabia and a lot more Muslims in the USA. Do the math. The numbers show that one's upbringing is the most influential factor in determining a person's religion as an adult. The only belief or creed that does not depend upon one's childhood upbringing is atheism.

Actually,I watch those videos.I think that if they can prove my beliefs wrong(which I highly doubt that they can),then hey,I have learned something new.I just do not like being called weak minded because I do not believe what they want me to believe. Most atheists are cool, but some of them can be alittle bit hasty in judgment towards Christians that they do not even know.In every group there is a few jackasses that stabs the group in the back and gives the group a bad name. Its sad,but true. These people should just be ignored.

lol. I read the life after death page. Can you say closed minded hypocrite? More of the time when a christian asks about something non christian other Christians freak out: "No! it's the devil! You don't even want to know about that!" You are the most closed minded bunch I have ever met. I'm sure I have read the bible more than you have read the Quran.

"You do realize, of course, that most of us have investigated other options, and have made an informed choice, right?"
You do realize that the exact same thing can be said for atheists as well, right? So why are you calling them close-minded?

That's it... don't look at anything that might challenge your beliefs.
Great, now you can believe anything you want and you don't even need a good reason.
Did you really choose your belief? Let me take a wild guess and say that your parents are/were Christians and/or the people you grew up with were Christians.
I'll listen to anything a Christian has to say or watch any video... but you aren't even willing to give it a try.

I'm sure it all started back in the Middle Ages when anyone who didn't believe the world was flat was persecuted... then it went on and anyone who didn't believe in Jesus was persecuted... now, like it or not, "Christian" equates with "conservative," which equates with "close-minded."
If more Christians were accepting of science, alternative lifestyles, and other cultures then they wouldn't get such a bad rap. Unfortunately, fringe radicals like Bill O'Reiley insist that Christianity be forced on others and no major Christian movement is seen counterbalancing that, so people judge based on what they see.

I agree with you. Atheists are as closed minded as Christians are. Agnostics are the only open ones it seems. I don't mind being close minded about religion and beliefs though. If I do not believe in something, then that's me.

You do have a point there, and yes many "100% science people" are close-minded; I guess some forget that both science and religion can leave someone narrowminded *shrugs shoulder* oh well, maybe they like living in a bubble

Why do Christians constantly accuse Athiest's of being closed or narrow minded? Stones can be thrown in both directions.
