If you have chilled pressure at 10psi. @ 50degrees when it switches to heating it jumps up to 40psi. after it climbs to 180degrees. The expansion tank is ok. ?

it is due to charles law which states that pressure is directly proportional to temperature.

as temperature increases the presure also increases.

You say the expansion tank is OK, but what are the chances it is waterlogged? I expect it has a means of draining it.
