When you realize that what seems to be best to you may not be best to others. It may seem to them you are just a person who has to dominate all he encounters. They give up trying and let you "stew in your own juices". The oldest extant story ever written by humans deals with a half human half god king who had your problem and deals with how he recovered from his plight. This king was named Gilgamesh and lived ca. 2500 BC.
It may arise from having to overcome a deep feeling of inferiority. Realize you are not any wiser than others, just more focused because of this unconscious need.
