My daughter has extramely curly, frizzy, thick hair. SHe started getting it thinned out at the hair dresser and when she wants it straight I'll use a flat iron on her hair that she either lets dry naturally overnite or uses a blowdryer on. I put biosilk silk therapy on each section before I flat iron it and she really likes the way it looks. She actually likes it the second or third day (she can go a week without washing it). Also, I bought her a book called the curly girl book and she follows that regimen because her hair is really dry also.

First, it is very important that you condition every time you wash your hair and even use a deep conditioning treatment once a week. Heat styling can damage and dry out your hair so you need to replace the moisture otherwise it will get worse.
Second, try finding a leave-conditioner or a smoothing cream to put in your hair before you blow dry it.
Third, try a ceramic striaghtening iron such as a CHI. They will help smooth the cuticle of your hair down resulting in a smoother look.
Lastly, try an anti frizz serum that you put on after your hair is striaghtened and a de humidifier spray if you need even more frizz help.

use a smoothing cream (Fedderik Fekkai Glossing Serum is pretty good) on damp hair and blow dry it straight-ish. Then it'll be so much easier to straighten. Put more glossing cream onto the dry hair and straighten it in small sections. Before you leave the house, add a tiny bit of glossing cream all over. Have fun!

Use products that are specifically for anti-frizz (I suggest John-Freida's Anti-Frizz Serum) before you straighten your hair.
