How much would it cost and what would be involved in shipping one to two tons of wine grapes from Lodi California to Brooklyn New york. I'm interested in the per ton cost of the wine grapes and the shipping cost in a cooled trailer.

Err - why transport grapes 3000 miles when there are vinifera vineyards 100 miles from you on Long Island.

But its November and I reckon they'll all be harvested now and made into wine. Why not mosy along to the wineries and see if you can organise a contract for next year?

First of all almost all wine grapes are red the white wines just aren't left to ferment in the skins and stems. Second the expense would be tremendous, it costs a pretty good dime for the people at chateau st michelle and columbia wineries to bring their grapes from eastern Washington back to western Washington and still make a profit. It all has to do with how the grapes are treated as well. I just don't know about the costs associated with a cross country trip in a refer truck.
