Why does the time before dating have to be a like a "procedure?"?

I really like this guy that i think likes me by how he treats me. but then some days its like completely different and we barely talk. yet he goes out of his way to "help me" with chem hw sometimes.
i want to figure him out. it's driving me nuts. what are the signs?

I think that's normal because he doesn't want to seem overly eager by following you around all the time. Wouldn't that be scary? Why don't you go to the next stage by asking him for a kind of mini date, like meeting for coffee. Then see if he asks you next time.

Hmmm . . . I think you should ask him out. He might not talk to you much because he's shy and afraid to be rejected, or something like that. But with the chemistry homework, he feels confident (which helps him overcome the shyness, if he's shy) and wants to help you out. I think you will see some improvement if you start talking to him more and ask him out. He probably doesn't go anywhere or do anything, and you might be his only female friend (for all I know; he sounds like the type, alright). Don't be afraid to ask him out. The good that will come from it will outweigh any minor inconveniences you experience. Good luck!
