I am a college student that has taken adderall 4-5 times this semester to study. I do not drink or use any other substance at all. Like most teens these days I have been exposed to binge drinking and marijuana/cannabis but unlike many, decided both were better off not in my life. I do not have an addictive personality and never want to become dependent on a drug, but I must say that adderall was almost incredible. In elementary school I wouldn't pay attention and was constantly bored with class, yet tested in the 99% percentile on most standardized tests. I was switched into a gifted program through middle school and then returned to my home high school. I have never found school to be interesting but haven't considered ADD because my problem was written off as a lack of stimulation. Anyways, I found school to be extremely engaging when taking adderall, and found my usually pessimistic self to be optimistic. Would occasional use of this drug at low levels cause any long term effects?

You should talk to your doctor. There's nothing wrong with taking it if you have ADHD, and it sounds like perhaps you do. But it is a prescription drug, and you should be monitored by a physician while taking any such drug. Come out of the closet! I don't think your doctor is going to spank you.

Oh puleeze! Your'e a college student and your inquiring about taking Adderall recreationally? Adderall is AMPHETEMINE, legally distributed by prescription. My husband takes it for adult ADD. Says right on the bottle amphetimine. Using this drug is exactly the same as using Meth. only meth is cheaper, don't need a doctor for a prescription. Your description your reaction to Addrerall, "incredible", says a lot. This is an extremely addictive drug. Don't think your immune to addiction. The effects of Adderall are the same as any "speed" class drug. Starts out slow, then you need more & more to attain the high. Quit It!

Taking adderall that infrequently at a low dose should not cause any long term effects. I'm not a doctor, I just take it daily for adhd, and I know if you were to take it daily your body would get used to the dosage and you would probably need to increase it after a while. It's pretty common to take it recreationally for study purposes, but not usually recommended by doctors. If you don't want to become dependent on anything, I would stick with your method. You could also ask your doctor for more information.
