Being in the U.S. for 5 years does not automatically qualify you for U.S. citizenship. There is a test of residency that you need to pass. Yes, the required residency is 5 years but out of this five years you must have lived in the U.S. for the first 30-months of it, meaning, you have not been out of the U.S. in those first 30-months. If you pass this test and you are still in the U.S. then you cna apply for U.S. citizenship. You need to pay a processing fee of $330 and you will be taking a naturalization exam at your nearest consul office.
It is advisable that you check the immigration website for answers to all of the questions you have with regards to immigration and naturalization issues. There may be other issues that you want to verify - the website is full of information.

Luckly their verison is easy, they asked me how many stripes are on the flag, what color, what does everything represent, who is the president, vp, govenor of your state, capital of us and your state, the branches of the government, sometimes you have to say the pleage of alligens, they are very easy questions. good luck on getting it, I took my application 9 months to process
