I am buying a 1982 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, I personally know the individual I am purchasing the truck from. The title has been misplaced or lost. We are both under the impression that if a vehicle is X amount of years old you don't have to have a title to be able to purchase a tag,get insurance etc. The truck is 25 years old, if anyone has or knows the answer to my question I would be greatly appreciative.

You always need a title. Vehicles over 10 years old are exempt from odometer certification. The seller needs to get a duplicate title before he can sell it to you. The DMV or a tag agency can handle that.

If you lost your title you can get a new one by seeing your D.O.L. and applying for a new one you cannot sell a car or truck with out one no matter how old or what state. As far as I know.

always need a title, not matter which state. File for lost title at DMV. A 25 yr old car can get antique plates (maybe not the word am looking for) but do need title...other wise get pulled over, how do you prove it's not stolen, and how would you license it?
