What's the best way to tell my parents that I won't be home for Christmas because I'm spending it with my other half?

Hi Lisa,

As a mum i know that there is going to come a day when my lot (i have four) are going to be all grown up and will want to be doing there own things especially around things like Christmas.

As much as it would be nice that once they had grown they would be around for Christmas there's going to be a time when they don't want to share it with old mum and i can understand that.

If i was you I'd just be open and honest with your parents and maybe arrange to do something special together instead.

Netty

Be honest, just tell them. If they create a fuss compromise by going there for Boxing Day, New Years Day.. Funnily enough parents can enjoy being alone at Christmas, reminds them of when they were young.

Well I know how you feel because I am between my familys it's
like that for me , but when I get older I have to worry about
which family to be with first . But for you I would tell both of your
familys that you are going to hang out with your friends or cousins . And then tell them what time that you are gong to go see which side of the family first so you don't get totally comfusing though I bet that's the top thing that you have been thinking about a lot. I know sometimes I feel like going crazie.
But you will get through it I promise you .

Tell unless they want a reenactment of Oedipus they better back off!

If they persist say, "Hey, what is mom going to put out? You going to give me a hand job in the shower dad? No, I didn't think so! Merry f-ing X-mas! I'm not Christian anyways."

Or your can your "other half" yell at you in the back ground on what you should say over the phone to make it sound like your a whipped cuckold.

Yeah, that's what I'd do. Thanks for asking.

Will you be able to see them at all during the holidays?

I can't imagine that....but just be honest and tell them when you will be coming home for a visit.
