Before she drinks her water she sits there staring in the bowl for a few minutes, then she hits it with her paw and moves it across the floor until most of the water has spilled out, she can move it across the whole kitchen, making the floor wet, and her paws wet, and leaves little paw prints everywhere. I have to dry the floor about 4 or 5 times a day!
I tried giving her a heavy bowl that she could'nt move, but she just would'nt drink anything then and meeowed all day!

Why don't you try getting one of those kitty water fountain bowls..obviously she is doing it to amuse herself. My cat's always like it when we pour in the water they think it is so cool and actually drink from the stream of bottle water. Maybe if you try that she will be amused from the fountain effect and just lick from the stream.

My cat does the same thing. I ended up gettng a dog dish setup. One of the metal ones where the bowls sit in a stand, up off of the floor. This is the only thing I have found to work. Good Luck!

If you have a dollar store or your grocery store has a gadgets area, look for a crockery bowl. They are heavy enough to keep a cat from moving it around, and the most I've ever spent for a good, deep crockery bowl was $2. They are wonderful in another way too. They tend to keep the water cooler, and cats love their water cold.

Best I can think of is to do the heavy bowl again, but this time, place the one she plays with next to that heavy bowl. Make sure the little one is empty. Cats are funny so I don't know if it will work, but it is worth a try.

My cat does that too. I read somewhere they don't like their dish too close to a wall. I moved the dish away from the wall now she stands behind the dish & drinks. She drags the dish every now & then but not every day. I also put a folded towel under it so when she does move it, the towel goes with it & any spilled water lands on th towel. Aren't cats insane?

I know this sounds contradictory to what people think about cats, but they do like to drinks from moving water. There really isn't anything you can do to deter her, except get a heavier bowl, or put her bowl in the sink so that if she tips it, it won't make a mess.

Well, I suggest a self-water bowl, which means you don't have to pour your cat water as often and it would be too heavy for her to move it. But, if you don't want one of those possibly a bowl with high sides might help, which would make it hard for her to step in.

Try leaving her dish in different places. She may be trying to get it where she wants it. Is there a specific place it is always dragged to? Does she drink a lot of water? she could be trying to tell you something if this is not something she has always done. Try different colors for the dish. The only color my cat will drink from is yellow. Possibly also the water isn't to her fancy.
