The key to losing weight is taking in less calories than you burn. One can actually lose weight without much exercising, however, if you want to have firm muscles and be healthier, then one must exercise as well. Age and current physical condition are important factors to consider for what you are wanting to accomplish. A good start would be to join a fitness center. When one has money invested one is more likely to keep at it. Start with a treadmill walking at a fast pace until you are tired. It may be 5 - 10 minutes at first, but then you will lengthen your time as you progress. Working out at a fitness center also gives you opportunities to meet others who you can observe who are successful with weight training and learn from them. If you are trying to lose weight then whatever weight exercises you do, use lighter weights and do many reps, as oppose to using heavy weights and less reps as one would do to gain weight with strength. What ever you choose to do, it will take time and discipline on your part. In addition to physical exercise, I strongly recommend spiritual exercise at the same time. I am not ashamed to say, use only the Holy Bible to exercise your spirit. You will come to understand that your exercising has a purpose other than your own personal gratification. With a healthier body and spirit you will be in a position for serving others and that is the real gratification.

For your stomach, start doing crunches or sit ups every other day. Do enough reps each time so that your abs feel a little sore, this means you are getting a good workout.

For your legs, you can do calf raises on your own: While keeping your knees locked, gradually lift your heel and use your toes as a pivot. This will work out your calves. For most other parts of the leg, u need a machine to work out.

Good Luck!

i'd say take a Pilates class.. you will DEFINETLY notice the difference, or look up online some exercises or purchase a DVD. you will work your abs and in my class i do a lot of legwork too.. dancers do it to stay in shape because it also works on your posture and flexibility and coordinates your breathing with body movement

i started it to lose weight after i had a baby and i am ADDICTED and got certified to teach it.. the pounds will fall off!
