No, once someone turns 18 they are legally considered to be an adult and can't be adopted. The 63 year old woman might be able to help the 31 year old get a life though

Why would a 31 yr old want to be adapted or adopted.

As for adoption. This can only take place if the child is under the age of 18 and cannot depend on his or her self.

As in this case, she can depend on herself, rather than parents for food and other necessaties, then a case like this would, im sorry to say, be laughed at and placed in the waste paper tray.

Therefore your answer is no.

However, as an alternative, can this person not just change her name, to your surname and people will automatically presume you are related.

I'm pretty sure only minors (people under age 18) can be adopted, so if the 31 year old is trying to immigrate here, she'll have to do it another way.

She is an adult and not a person under 18. Maybe in other countries you might but in the USA you may not. She is too old

No, legal adoption is limited to the time period that the child is considered a child. Once a child reaches 18 yrs, they are no longer considered a child, and there for are not subject to adoption (I hope this is what you mean, because you can adapt some one at any time).

If she's 31..why would she want to be adopted? thats weird. Unless she has some kind of health condition in which she needs a guardian. If thats a case. then yes.

since she not a young child there should not be any problem, only if she was a minor would you have to go through a lot because of the age gap.if she was an immigrant then they might question your reasons, because people have been known to do that as a way of getting money.

31 is not a girl... adoption of a 31 year old sounds kinda creepy.

a 31 year old is an adult. I doubt if she could be legally adopted unless she is incapacitated in some way, as in incapable of taking care of herself.
