My 7 month old male cat is sick, Tuesday I noticed he hadn't been eating, and he's been sluggish. I've tried everything to get him to eat, no luck. He's been going to the litter box and he's been drinking water, actually a lot of water, he keeps drinking out of the toilet, (now we have to keep the door shut because he keeps falling in and getting all wet, he doesn't even seem to care he's all wet.
I thought at first it was that maybe he could have gotten into something not so good for him, my husband said he thought he heard him throwing up but couldn't be sure. I never saw a stain on the carpet.
I was waited to see if it would pass, thinking because he really wasn't having any really bad signs of poisoning, just the ones I described earlier.
it's been 3 days and only today has he gotten worse.
I don't know what to do for him, I don't have a vet. My husband says we don't have the money to take him to the vet. Anybody got any ideas about what I can do for him at home.

I'm no vet but I've had cats for as long as i can remember. Is your cat a stray that you found or did you get him from someone? Is he playful or just lay around the house? Is the food your feeding him canned food, dry or a bit of both? If he is playful then I would try a small amount of cut up chicken with no spices or anything on it, but maybe a small bit of gravy, human food can give cats the run, so try just a bit at a time, the hole point is to get some food into him. When he goes to the litter box does it seem like it is hurting him or does everything come out OK? If everything is coming out OK then he should be fine as long as you can get him to eat and keep him warm if he gets wet, he could have the flu, cats and dogs can get the flu also. Try call your animal shelter and asking them what you mite do to help him or call the vets around you and see if one mite get you tips on what to do some are more free with info then others.

oh no' every one is going to tell you if you can;t afford them don;t get them, take it to the animal shelter maybe they will help it or at least not let it suffer any more. has the cat been wormed? check its stools , if you see any get some worm medicine its not very expensive.try feeding him some fried liver most cats love that and its very cheap, maybe a little milk ,but not much all at once it will give him diarrhea and he sure don't need that, call a vet maybe he will give you some advice. good luck, also it sounds like he may have a fever .,try cooling him with wet rag but be sure to towel dry him so he won;t get chilled. have you got any children's antibiotic left over if so mix it with water a long time ago I SAVED A STRAY sick cat with some, but be very carefully and not give it too much and make sure you water it down or it could kill it for sure ,know most would;t advise this but if you can;t do any thing else to save him guess its better than doing nothing . hope he gets OK ,please let us know if he gets OK.?

recently my cat went thru sort of the same thing. i saved her and she was recently declawed. apparently, the surgery caused a lot of stress and she wouldn't eat or drink. this went on for a week, then i tool her to the vet. they couldn't find anything wrong and i took her home. again, she didn't eat at all - only drank a little. she also just slept all day. i took her BACK to the vet and sure enough, she suffered from "blockage". her colon was clogged and she needed an enema. in turn, her appetite came back, and she is fine now. bottom line is that it can be anything..if you or your husband can see yourself doing an enema on your cat, then don't take it to the vet. for some reason, i cannot see that happening so my advice would be to take the cat to the kitty doctor. good luck

Research on the internet under cat treatments, and you can find alot about sicknesses. I found alot about my cat when she had kidney disease! Watch her, and if she sleeps in the "meatloaf" positionthat is not a good sign. Try to get him to a vet, now, because the longer you wait, the worse it could get, and then it would be even more money to see a vet.

well first you can get aneydropper and try to give him some broth to keep his strength up. second of all he needs to go to the vet if you want him well. take him to the vet let the vet treat him and then when they tell you the bill say can i make arrangements to pay that. what are they going to do ?? they cant untreat him after they did. that may sound bad but my cat was so sick once i did that. and after they treated him the vet said that will be whatever the amount was an d i then said can i make arragements to pay that and i did pay it. please take him and make arrangements with them but dont ask them up front just do it. hope this helps love mystical

Call the vet and ask about payments, There are alot of them that will work with you so call around. The kitty needs to be seen to by a professional. You can also call the humane society and ask what they advise but the vet is more important.

Just one more thing to add to all the advice. If your cat is an inside cat you should think about getting him out so he can eat some grass. Grass is what cats eat naturally to help themselves when they are sick and it is a necessary part of their diet. Cats actually eat a lot of grain in the wild...they get it from eating other animals like birds and rodents who have eaten grain. So try the grass...at least it is natural and it cant hurt.

What you have is a sick kitty. He needs to go to the vet. Many will try to work with you on a payment plan, if you can't pay up front: At least, the one my husband and I go to do.
Good luck

Take your cat to the vet. Find one in your local phone book or ask a neighbor if they know of one. Your cat may be a diabetic or have a urinary tract infection. Don't wait too long.

the only thing I know is safe for the cat is give it a half teaspoon of perto bismal couple times a day for 3 0r 4 days, see if if he gets any better, sometimes animals will not eat for awahile but a good sign is as long as he is drinking water, the pepto will sooth his tummy, thats what my vet told me to do for my dog before I bring him in..good luck.
