Before you judge another, you should judge yourself.

Boy, this is going to be a long one.

First of all, let's quote the verse in question.

Matthew 7:1 - "Judge not, that ye be not judged"

If I could put this into modern terms, it would be this way.

"Don't be the pot calling the kettle black!"

What the verse is actually referring to is someone who tries to correct another of an issue when the person trying to do the correcting is struggling with the same issue. Or worse.

It is an admonishment to clean our own house before we try to go clean our neighbor's house.

People often misquote this verse to mean that we should not look at people for how they dress or act. Or maybe if they had a criminal record.

Let's wrap up in perspective. If I were a bank manager, I would not hire a teller who had been convicted of armed robbery.

A sensible judgment, I believe.

The bible declares do not judge lest you be judged for with the same measure you judge another it shall be done unto you.

I would rather reword that statement, examine yourself as the bible says to examine yourself to see if you are in the faith. People spend way to much time looking at others, the speck in their eye and miss the plank in their own. If we examine ourselves we will see others with God's heart and love them through whatever situation they are facing.

Judge yourself. Don't judge others. This is what's true.

No. Because I should not judge another even if I have judged myself.

Absolutely.

The Bible says "get the log out of your own eye before you point out the splinter in your neighbors eye." I'm paraphrasing here.

Another time Jesus admonishes the crowd who wish to stone the adulterous woman, "Let He who is without sin cast the first stone."

No....

1Cor.4
[3] But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.
[4] For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

Matt.7
[3] And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
[4] Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
[5] Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

But it does say, before you try to tell someone that they see it all wrong, you must first consider your own eye to make sure you don't have log in it. Symbolism of course, like a beam would fit in your eye.

T R U E!!!!! Very good brother. Verily saith the Lord,
"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye." (Matthew 7:3-5).

One can judge oneself, but should not judge others, lest they want to be a prick, which is cool. I do it a lot.
