Yes, they should but I'm glad they're in different sections because its hard enough in the mythology section to actually discuss mythology without the Christians coming in and telling everyone to find god and that they're going to hell if they continue to research anything at all on mythology.

Hmm...
In a way they are similar, but there are some inherent differences. Religion has a specific text from which it's drawn whether it's the Bible, the Talmud, the Koran, or the Bhagavad-Gita; while Mythology/Folklore exist as 'Stories' which have been handed down either through the written word in the case of Ovid from the Greeks or through word of mouth, such that the Native Americans did.
Religions typically have an experiential or ritualistic dimension to them which mythology/folklore do not. Meaning that there's a set of practice which goes along with following a religion. Mythology/Folklore typically are in the domain of "moral tales' where there is a lesson to be learned through the outcome of the story.
Great Question!

in no way are they connected. mythology and folklore is fake stories to entertain people. Now, a person persusaded and blinded by the devil would say so is religion. But religion is true if true doctrines and principles are taught, otherwise it is false, and then only can be listed under mythology/folklore. Example, Original Sin doctrine. That can go under mythology. If a doctrine or principle does not match with the word of god then threw it out.

Yes, clever, but far from the first person to make this inference. The main difference is the Relgion/spirituality people post in this section because they are afraid to admit to themselves that they are really propegating a myth/folklore. So the R/S section is for those still in denial.

Mythology and folklore offer interesting insights into our past whereas religion is just dogma used to control people.

only because you're too closed-minded to imagine there ought to exist a deeper truth does not advise that each and each and anybody feels that way, it does not advise that deeper truth does not exist, and it does not advise that somebody else has not experienced a truth deeper than the actual. i do not discover the elf maiden interior the secret position! I have by no skill had any non secular journey of the elf-maiden. I have experienced a deeper non secular truth; the affection, peace exhilaration of my author. And only because human beings typically twist faith or run off on tangents does not advise that you could decide God in accordance to that.

Religion is a sociological tactic that people integrate into thier lives.
Mythology/Folklore are the stories that give us lessons to help us with our lives.
They used to be the same thing- Greeks, Romans... etc.

Are you kidding? The more categories they have, the more people can post. The love the frenzy of friction in all the different categories. Ever noticed the Bull Fighting category? Heck, you could even petition for an atheist one...but who would you bash then?

mythology is something generally accepted as fiction. religion is mythology enough people believe to be true. go ahead, try talking to a christian about 'christian mythology' or try talking to your best friend about being saved by (your favorite) greek god.

Good point. I mean, if a Pastafarian came along, and people started insulting his Flying Spaghetti Monster by saying it's not real, he could use the same valid argument against them.
Hahahahahahahhahahahaha people don't believe in evolution
I like what one answerer said once..."Don't make me pray in my school, and I won't make you think in your church." I forgot who said it, but man, that made my day.
