Somebody help me out here. I can't recall the name of that religion that pre-dated Jesus that had a story exactly like jesus.

Mithra was the God who was born on Dec 25th. He had 12 apostles, He was sacrificed to redeem mankind, and Mithra ascended to heaven and Mithra will return to once again save mankind at the end of time.

I think you have it turned around. Your question should have been....The story of Jesus Christ is copied from what pagan religion that pre-dated christianity but about 800 years? The story of Mithras.

They're all pretty much the same. Jesus, Dionysus/Bacchus, Osiris and Horus, Tammuz, Krishna, Zarathustra, Mithras, Alexander the Great, The Buddha, Lao Zi, Attis, Heracles, Odin, Karna, Adonis, Prometheus...

The Mithra religion was very similar, but it is unknown how much was before Christianity and how much was after. There are no Mithraic texts in existence and all we know about them is through the writings of early Christian apologists. Parts of Mithraism came from Persia, which had slightly different beliefs.
