Why do people insist on bashing one's religion or beliefs. If one has faith in a God or Higher Power, shouldn't that be his/her given right. Atheists, I am including you as well. One should not be made to believe in a God or Higher Power if he/she does not believe in it. It also does not make it wrong. What do you think?

Thx for your question. You are right no one should be made to do anything we are all free moral agents with the choice of right and wrong and should be given the choice to make up our own minds as long as it does not hurt another individuals thus taking away their rights. Although I am coming from a christian perspective, I present what I believe to others because according to my faith I believe there is a heaven and hell etc so apathy is not an option towards other people if I truly believe what the bible teaches. I do not force it on anybody, I merely present it as a gift and it is the recipients choice whether to open it or not. Hope that helps a little....

Religions are opinions. Opinions are open to criticism. Religion shouldn't get special consideration just because it is someone pet superstition.
Nobody cares if you say something bad against Democrats or Republicans. Nobody cares if you take a side on a controversial political subject. People expect you to not believe everything you hear.
Yet, religious people expect their pet superstition to be held immune from any criticism, even if it has talking donkeys.

I believe that each person on his or her own must make a decision concerning whether or not they believe in God. It's not about rights or freedom. It's about eternity. As in where you go after you leave this earth. I would be more concerned about that. I would much rather get it right and go to heaven politically incorrect than to be concerned about my rights and go to Hell. That's just me.

i don't understand either. my philosophy is that its best most times to not even talk about my religion. because people instantly get offended which isn't vary fair considering that most people have no clue to what alot of the other religions out there actually stand for. Well at least with mine, you don't have to worry about me beating on your doorstep at 7 am trying to give you a bible, while i'm preaching to you and trying to convince you to give me some money for my church.

I agree. However, conflict makes the world go round. Let them have their fun. It's okay to disagree. Think of it as a discussion, not an argument.

It is definitely a shame, and an enormously valuable opportunity that is being missed by everyone when we are unable to intelligently and rationally discuss and debate differing religious views.

Amen to that! Many people "bash" the Catholic Church and they are judging and Jesus does not want us to judge. The old saying "forgive and forget"

There is always hatred between groups of people who all consider themselves right.
Its unfortunate that we all cant just say, "We can agree to disagree and be mutually respectful"
