19 yrs. old is very, very young to have peripheral artery disease. Most people who fall in to the high risk category don't even start to have symptoms (numbness in the extremities, pain while walking, and rest pain) until about their 40s. If I were a betting man, I would lean towards a type of vasculitis causing your problems. This type of condition involves an inflammation of the wall of the blood vessel, thus restricting blood flow. It usually affects the arteries of the legs and the neck. The process can be slowed down with steroids and partially corrected with bypass surgery. It would not be a bad idea to have an MRA of the carotid arteries as well as an MRA of the abdomen and legs to totally assess the situation. Good luck!!!!

yes its serious, smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol are things that will complicate the disease.

obviously you've seen a dr, follow what he says, the disease puts you at high risk for heart attack, stroke, gangrien and possible amputation.

It's not the end of the world just take care of yourself, the whole country is at risk, we eat poorly exercise too little and think that somehow we'll be fine. It truly is more common in older folks but obviously you know it can affect the young as well.
