Cutting back on all milk products, 3-4 servings a day is sufficient, twice a day give her prune juice (mix with water if too strong for her). A banana a day will help her to have an easier time, and more exercise, take her for a walk 20 minutes a day (while it is cold, walk her around the inside of the house make a game of it) this will help her too. My daughter had the same problem, and now she goes every other day, and it is not as hard for her, she will be two on the 21st.

She should see a doctor, if that continues. Sounds as if she needs more fiber and water. Be honest with yourself, is her diet crap. Burgers, fries, mac n cheese, and nothing green or grows is ever eaten then the problem is simple. You can sneak good stuff in I promise. Hide it under some melted cheese or ketchup or call it something fun. Try fruits and new foods. Chocolate covered raisins send my kids every time, whole wheat crackers & pasta don't taste different to them either and they cost about the same.

Mineral oil. A big tablespoon once a day for a week. My daughter was the same now its my 2 yr old son. Prune juice also. Finally with my son we had to get a prescription.

My son had troubles when he was younger as well. We used 2 parts apple sauce, 1 part prune juice, and 1 part wheat germ. I gave him a teaspoon a day, and it worked great for him. It will only work if she'll eat it though. My son loved it b/c the doctor had him drinking an 8 oz. glass of Citrucel (found at your pharmacy), and he hated that. Your daughter might like it though.

I've heard you should never give a child fruit juices to aid in constipation. The high fructose corn syrup can only worsen things. The dear girl needs fiber. Her diet is all wrong or else she wouldn't be in such a rut.

Fruits and Fiber rich vegetables only. Give it a couple days and everything should be right on track.

Good luck.

The large stool indicates constipation. The stool cannot come out large in
diameter unless it is firm enough to stretch the anus. Constipation is
consistency, not frequency. You son prefers to poop elsewhere because he can
push it out slowly and if given enough time to dilate.
Nobody wants to birth a baby daily, so he will hold it in. The longer he
holds it in, the more the colon sucks water from the stool and the harder it
becomes. You need something to hold water in the stool harder than the colon
can pull it out. My favorite products are Philips Milk of Magnesia
(non-prescription) and Miralax (Prescription). Both can be used for months
without problems - neither is significantly absorbed. It stays in the stool
and keeps water with it. I usually dose them at breakfast and supper and
have better results than with mineral oil. Talk with your pediatrician!

Make sure she is plenty hydrated using water or pedialyte. The Milk of Magnesia won't work if she's not hydrated. Also try giving her plenty of fruits to help loosen up. Make a nice big fruit salad, that always helps my family. If nothing else, you'll probably have to get a prescription from your doctor. Hope she feels better soon!

well you should take her to the doctor and they will give her a suppository. But also you may need to change her diet, what is she eating? In the meantime try some prune juice and the like that should help.

First thing - stop the apple juice. There's no fiber in it.

Try heavy pulp OJ and feed her more veggies. Skip the meats (if she's eating them).
The only way to really soften stool is to get more fiber.
You can also try prunes.

Pear juice works well for our 2-1/2 year old. Also, skip things like fruit snacks which only make things worse.
