He follows my cat around the house and growls at my other dog when she shows him attention. Its like hes being possesive over the cat.

your cat must be popular XD
well as long as he doesn't bite your other dogs or hurt them then I guess is all right.
But just keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't go too far.
If he does bite one of your dogs or growls at them again then you try to be the boss of the house and say NO to him every time you see him doing that.
good luck! ^_^

Not weird at all! Is this living arrangement between the two a new thing? The dog might just need time to get over the excitement or obsession. Also as you've seen, if the cat gets too pissed off he won't hesitate to hurt the dog and the dog will eventually learn not to mess with the cat. Depending on the floor plan of the house you could possibly set up a baby gate to keep the dog in one part of the house and allow your cat to relax in another part. You could also keep a leash attached to the dog so you can step on it or give it a quick tug while the cat makes a get away while he's getting used to the cat. If the living arrangement isn't new and the dog has been obsessed for some time then the only thing I can think of is to give your cat a safe area such as the baby gate idea or find a place on some piece of furniture for the cat to relax that is too high up for the dog to reach. Cats are tough and can defend themselves as long as the dog isn't attacking them so hopefully after a few more injuries from the cat the dog will back off.

it depends how old the dog is. if it's a pup, then it's curiosity. If it's an adult, mating time. he or she wants a mate! And i hear that cats like alone time, or u know that cats don't like dogs. it probably temporary
