anyone ever seen the show, talking to Americans, by Rick Mercer? I hope Americans don't think we put our old people out on the ice flows to die, after they become useless to society?

Ah, stupid Americans probably think a great many stupid things. Stupid people tend to do that. I suspect the show finds the dumbest people and airs the things that they say because that would be the most entertaining.

The Canadians I know are similar to a hybrid American-English thing. There are more Anglicans than you find in the USA generally, but more Protestants than the UK. You seem to have a large Muslim population as well. As far as religious beliefs go, they seem to mirror Canada's political beliefs - ie, they're not as "extremeist" as the USA in many ways.

And it's "ice floe" - we're not all stupid.

We think of Canadians as our neighbors to the north. I really have never heard anything derogatory about them. I'm not certain about their religious beliefs, but aren't some of them affiliated with the Church of England, or the Episcopal Church? And the French Canadians are probably Catholic.

I have visited parts of Canada and found the people to be friendly. It was strange hearing newscasts there, however, when they referred to the Queen and Parliament instead of the President and Congress. Otherwise, it didn't seem much different than being in the U.S. Oh, and I forgot to mention that Canadians have vinegar with their french fries instead of ketchup.

No, Americans don't think Canadians mistreat the elders. Where did you get that idea?

Who cares really? It doesn't matter what someone else thinks about you. However, I believe Canada was based on Christianity. The Jesuits (missionaries) came and "saved" the Native Americians. So, although there is no "real" church, you can practice whatever belief you see fit. That should count for something.

America has no foundational church either....if it did there wouldn't be 35,000+ denominations. So why would any American care about who believes what in Canada?
